Dra. Claudia Quezada Monrás
Investigador Principal
Universidad Austral de Chile

Dr. Claudia Quezada Monrás is a Full Professor and Senior Researcher at the Tumor Biology Laboratory of the Institute of Biochemistry and Microbiology of the Faculty of Sciences of the Austral University of Chile. She is a graduate of Biochemistry from the Austral University of Chile and a PhD in Molecular Biosciences from the Andrés Bello University. She has carried out international research stays in cancer research centers such as the prestigious Vall’De Hebron Oncology Hospital and Research Center. Her interest in her research has focused on the study of various mechanisms of tumor resistance, from basic research to clinical trials in collaboration with national and international health and research centers. She has participated in various scientific societies receiving various awards for her research and was Director of the Southern Zone of the Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Chile.

In 2013 he obtained the National Prize for University Scientific Research “Cure and Prevention of Cancer” and in 2022 he received the Los Ríos Region Medal for his contribution to regional development in Science and innovation, and has become a leader and co-investigator of various R + D + i projects, including FONDECYT, FONDEQUIP, FIDECNO, FIC, ANILLOS DE INVESTIGACION, FONDEF. Currently, he is investigating the role of adenosine and its low-affinity receptors as endogenous modulators of resistance mechanisms to treatment in brain tumors such as glioblastoma and the search for immunological biomarkers and drug resistance in gallbladder cancer. At the management level, she has been a Member of the Academic Council and Superior University Council and is currently Director of Research at the Universidad Austral de Chile.
