Dr. Roa is a medical doctor from the University of La Frontera (UFRO), Pathologist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). Fellowship in Molecular Biology at the University of Louisiana and Master’s Degree in Molecular Oncology from the CNIO in Spain. Currently Full Professor at UC and UFRO (ad honorem), Head of the Department of Pathology at PUC since 2012, Member of the National Cancer Commission, President of the Pathological Anatomy Accreditation Commission of CONACEM, in charge of UC Cancer Research and director of the Institutional Tumor Biobank. Associate (Principal) Investigator of the Millennium Institute of Immunology and Immunotherapy (IMII) and Associate Investigator of the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control (CECAN). In the area of Surgical Pathology and Molecular Oncology of gallbladder cancer with more than 50 projects, 300 publications and 15 book chapters, mentoring more than 20 doctoral and postdoctoral students. He has acted as editor and author of the gallbladder cancer and bile duct cancer chapters of the WHO Classification of Digestive Tumors (2019).
