Vicente lidera 2 líneas de investigación, ambas en el contexto de la migración celular:
1. Papel del tráfico endosomal en la migración y metástasis de células tumorales.
2. Migración celular en la reparación de heridas.
Su investigación es financiada por instituciones gubernamentales, como FONDECYT, FONDEF, FONDAP e Iniciativa Científica Milenio. Ha publicado más de 60 artículos en revistas ISI de renombre, la mitad de ellos como autor correspondiente. Se ha desempeñado como editor y revisor de diferentes revistas y como evaluador del Grupo de Estudio de Biología en FONDECYT. También ha presentado solicitudes de patente basadas en sus estudios sobre las moléculas salivales histatinas.
