Vicente Torres studied Biochemistry at Universidad de Chile. In 2006, he obtained a PhD in Biochemistry at Universidad de Chile, with a thesis focused on tumor cell signaling, at the Faculty of Medicine of the same University.
Then, Vicente moved to La Jolla, California, USA, to perform a Postdoctoral Training at the Cancer Center of the University of California San Diego (2006-2009). He worked in tumor cell migration and metastasis, providing unanticipated roles for the endosomal protein Rab5.
In 2009, Vicente moved back to Chile, supported by a Government Grant ANID (ex-CONICYT) that helped young scientists to become engaged with academia. Vicente started as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine (2010). Then, Vicente was appointed as Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, U de Chile (2011-2016) and he is currently Associated Professor at the same institution (2016-present).
At the personal level, Vicente is a surfer and mountain bike rider.
